Energy Statistics

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) , a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy, provides policy-neutral data, forecasts, and analyses. This information is used to promote sound policy making, efficient markets, and public understanding regarding energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.

On the international front, the International Energy Agency (IEA) conducts a broad range of energy research, providing data compilation, publications, and public dissemination of the latest energy policy analysis.

The Office of Planning, Budget, and Analysis (PBA) collects data from various sources and makes this analysis available on the Web, highlighting the databases and other online resources that provide EERE-related information. While EERE has helped develop and maintain some of these data resources, some of the online references are generated by other research organizations.

A list of primary and crosscutting analysis resources available online include:

  • PAE Analysis Database
This primary knowledge management database—developed by the Planning, Analysis, and Evaluation (PAE) team—provides a compilation of data and analysis information produced by both EERE and other research organizations.

  • Indicators of Energy Intensity in the United States
Developed by PBA, this site and related database provide information on energy intensity indicators (demand, economic trends, etc.) that can be used to consistently track changes in U.S. energy intensity over time.

  • Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE)
DSIRE, managed by PBA, is a comprehensive database resource of state, local, utility, and federal incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.

  • Renewable Electric Plant Information System (REPIS)
REPIS, managed by PBA, is a database providing information on renewable energy plants and installed capacity for energy planners, policy makers, and others interested in renewable energy.

  • Green Power Network (GPN)
The GPN, managed by PBA, provides news and information on green power markets and related activities. The database provides up-to-date information on green power providers, product offerings, consumer protection issues, and policies affecting green power markets. It also includes a reference library of relevant papers, articles and reports.

  • Renewable Resource Data Center (RReDC)
The RReDC, managed by PBA, provides information on several types of renewable energy resources in the United States, via a database of publications, analysis data, and maps.

For more information on databases related to specific technologies, access the Data and Analysis by Program page.

Data Books

For more analysis information in the form of data books, access the Data Books section of the PBA site.

More Data and Analysis Information

Access PBA's Analysis Database for more data and analysis information, which is produced by both EERE and other research organizations.
