The U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) supports research, development, and demonstration to enable the sustainable use of domestic biomass and waste resources for the production of biofuels and bioproducts.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel Grand Challenge

AlgaePrize 2023–2025 Competition

Initially launched in January 2022, the second round of the AlgaePrize competition, sponsored by DOE BETO and supported by the Algae Foundation and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, challenges students to become the next generation of bioeconomy professionals by pursuing innovative ideas for the development, design, and invention of technologies within the commercial algae value chain.
