Funding Opportunity Announcement: Carbon, Hydrogen, and Separation Efficiencies (CHASE) in Bio-Oil Conversion Pathways

December 14, 2012

On December 14, the Department of Energy announced a funding opportunity for up to $12 million for projects that aim to reduce the cost of producing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuels from biomass. The funding will be provided for up to five research and development (R&D) projects that will boost biofuel yields from non-food-based lignocellulosic feedstocks. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) focuses on three barriers identified at the stakeholder workshop, “Conversion Technologies for Advanced Biofuels,” and from a Request for Information conducted in November 2012:

  • Carbon efficiency
  • Hydrogen efficiency
  • Separations efficiency.
This opportunity is open to universities, national laboratories, industrial entities, and non-profit organizations. Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. ET, February 13, 2013.
