Commercial Heating, Air Conditioning, and Water Heating Equipment (i.e. ASHRAE Equipment) Notice of Data Availability

As a preliminary step in the rulemaking process for American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) equipment, the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) directs the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to publish in the Federal Register for public comment an analysis of the energy savings potential of amended energy efficiency standards. This publication must occur within 180 days after ASHRAE Standard 90.1 is amended for any of the covered products specified under 42 U.S.C. 6313(a). (42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(A)) On January 9, 2008, ASHRAE's Board of Directors gave final approval to ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007 for distribution, which ASHRAE officially released and made public on January 10, 2008. This amendment triggered DOE's obligations under 42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6). The notice of data availability (NODA) presents the analysis of the energy savings potential of amended energy efficiency standards, as required under 42 U.S.C. 6313(a)(6)(A)(i).
