Commercial Heating, Air Conditioning, and Water Heating Equipment (i.e. ASHRAE Equipment) Final Rule
This page presents information about energy conservation standards and test procedures for commercial heating, air conditioning, and water heating equipment.
The U.S. Department of Energy issued on July 9, 2009 a final rule amending the energy conservation standards and test procedures for certain types of commercial heating, air-conditioning, and water heating equipment (ASHRAE equipment). The final rule establishes energy conservation standards and test procedures for commercial packaged boilers. The standards for commercial packaged boilers established in the final rule will be applied starting March 2, 2012. The revised test procedures for commercial packaged boilers are effective September 21, 2009, 60 days after the final rule was issued. The final rule also establishes energy conservation standards for water-cooled and evaporatively-cooled commercial package air conditioners and heat pumps with a cooling capacity at or above 240,000 Btu/h and less than 760,000 Btu/h, effective January 10, 2011.
