Residential Clothes Washers Framework

This page presents information on the framework stage of the current energy conservation standards rulemaking for residential clothes washers.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will commence a rulemaking to amend energy conservation standards for residential clothes washers on September 21, 2009. DOE will hold an informal public meeting to present its proposed methodologies for conducting this rulemaking, discuss issues relevant to the rulemaking proceeding, initiate interaction with interested parties, and begin the data collection process.
