Residential Furnaces and Boilers Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR)

The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA or the Act) prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment, and requires the Department of Energy to determine if amendments to increase the stringency of the standards are technologically feasible and economically justified, and if they would save a significant amount of energy. In this notice, the Department is proposing to amend the energy conservation standards for residential furnaces and boilers and is announcing a public meeting.
