Refrigerators, Refrigerator-Freezers, and Freezers Final Rule

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Conservation Program for Consumer Products had revised energy conservation standards for residential refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. The final rule for these products was published in the Federal Register on April 29, 1997.

On December 19, 2007, the President signed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007) which makes numerous amendments to EPCA and directs DOE to undertake several new rulemakings for appliance energy-efficiency standards. Please check the Refrigerators, Refrigerator-Freezers, and Freezers page for information on upcoming rulemakings.
