Residential Heating Products Notice of Proposed Rulemaking
This page presents information on the notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) analyses conducted as part of the current energy conservation standards rulemaking for residential heating products.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is required to publish a final rule amending energy conservation standards for residential water heaters, direct heating equipment, and pool heaters no later than March 31, 2010. This NOPR presents the methodology and assumptions DOE used to evaluate potential standards for these products, the results of NOPR analyses, and the proposed energy conservation standard levels. This NOPR also announces an informal public meeting to discuss and receive comments on: (1) the NOPR methodology and assumptions, (2) the proposed standard levels, and (3) the specific analysis issues presented in the NOPR. A technical support document accompanies this NOPR, which further details the NOPR analyses methodology and assumptions and summarizes the NOPR results.
