Rulemaking for Consumer Dehumidifiers Energy Conservation Standards
The Department of Energy (DOE) is considering whether to amend its energy conservation standards for residential dehumidifiers. This activity is mandated by the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA).

DOE has published a Federal Register notice of proposed rulemaking regarding proposed energy efficiency standards for dehumidifiers. 80 FR 31646 (June 3, 2015). DOE will host public meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2015.
DOE published a notice of public meeting and availability of the preliminary technical support document regarding energy conservation standards for dehumidifiers. 79 FR 29380 (May 22, 2014).
DOE will host a public meeting Tuesday, July 7, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at at the U.S. Department of Energy, Forrestal Building, Room 8E-089, 1000 Independence Avenue, SW., Washington, DC 20585.

DOE is conducting a test procedure rulemaking for residential dehumidifiers and recently published a notice of proposed rulemaking regarding test procedures for dehumidifiers. 79 FR 29271 (May 21, 2014). For more information, please see the rulemaking webpage.
The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007) amended EPCA to prescribe energy conservation standards for residential dehumidifiers manufactured on or after October 1, 2012. DOE codified the EISA 2007 standards at 10 CFR 430.32(v)(2). 74 FR 12058 (March 23, 2009). During this rulemaking, DOE will determine whether to further amend the energy conservation standards for residential dehumidifiers. (42 U.S.C. 6295(cc))
