The Department of Energy has published a request for information (RFI) regarding labeling for commercial and industrial equipment. 77 FR 75400 (Dec. 20, 2012).

Under Section 344 of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, the Department of Energy is required to prescribe a labeling rule applicable to any class of covered equipment for which it has prescribed a test procedure, if the Department finds through a rulemaking that such labeling would be economically and technologically feasible, would be likely to result in significant energy savings, and if such labeling would assist consumers in making purchasing decisions. (42 U.S.C. 6315).
