Market Transformation Project Team: Data Aggregation and Analysis
Market Transformation team members have identified that access to building utility data is a major barrier to implementing energy efficiency measures, since "you can't manage what you don't measure." The team is working to connect members to the wide array of federal programs aimed at facilitating the aggregation and analysis of building performance data. Market Transformation Project Team members collaborate with many of the programs outlined below to benchmark their buildings.
Portfolio Manager
Portfolio Manager is an interactive energy management tool that allows you to track and assess energy and water consumption across your entire portfolio of buildings in a secure online environment. Buildings that earn a score of 75 or higher are eligible to earn the ENERGY STAR® rating.
- Audience: Building owners/managers
- Purpose: Peer benchmarking of building energy use
Asset Score
DOE's Building Technologies Office is developing an Asset Scoring Program that will allow building owners, managers, and operators to more accurately assess building energy performance. The asset score will provide a standard way to evaluate the physical characteristics and as-built energy efficiency of buildings. The program will also identify cost-effective energy efficient improvements that, if implemented, will save you money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Market Transformation team is working with members to share information on the program and to recruit commercial building owners, managers, and operators to join a pilot, receive a free asset rating, and provide feedback.
- Audience: Building owners/managers
- Purpose: Detailed benchmarking of building systems to help identify opportunities for improvement
Building Performance Database
The Building Performance Database (BPD) is a decision-support platform that enables engineering and financial practitioners to evaluate energy efficiency products and services in commercial and residential buildings. Designed to address existing market barriers, the Database enables analysis of the benefits and risks of energy efficiency projects, helping individuals make informed decisions on completing and investing in these improvements.
- Audience: Building owners/managers; investment community
- Purpose: Actuarial measurement of building performance and evaluation of upgrade options
