High-Performance Green Building Partnership Consortia
The High-Performance Green Building Partnership Consortia are groups from the public and private sectors recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for their commitment to high-performance green buildings. Groups that met specific qualifications outlined in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 applied to be recognized as Consortia members through a Federal Register Notice. DOE recognized the following groups:
The mission of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools is to facilitate the design, construction, and operation of high performance schools: environments that are not only energy and resource efficient, but also healthy, comfortable, well lit, and containing the amenities for a quality education.
The Database for Analyzing Sustainable and High Performance Buildings (DASH) aims to address this interest by collecting building information and making it publicly available.
The Green Building Finance Consortium (GBFC) is a group of leading corporations, real estate companies, and trade groups who have joined together to address the need for independent research and analysis of investment in green or energy-efficient buildings.
The Green Building Initiative (GBI) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to accelerate the adoption of building practices that result in energy-efficient, healthier, and environmentally sustainable buildings by promoting credible and practical green building approaches for residential and commercial construction.
The High-Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership was established to bring together leading organizations across all aspects of the building community to further the development of high-performance commercial buildings.
LonMark International is a global membership organization created to promote and advance the business of efficient and effective integration of open, multi-vendor control systems utilizing ISO/IEC 14908-1 and related standards.
Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) is a regional nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Its mission is to promote the efficient use of energy in homes, buildings, and industry in the Northeast United States through regionally coordinated programs and policies that increase the use of energy-efficient products, services, and practices, and that help achieve a cleaner environment and a more reliable and affordable energy system.
Platinum Development Company is a nationally recognized consulting firm supporting fundraising development for high-profile, green building projects. The company's full-service offering includes funding feasibility studies, capital campaigns, grant research, and writing, along with environmental finance for renewable energy solutions. Platinum Development provides consulting for public, private, and nonprofit building owners and developers. Established in 2004, the company is a pioneer in sustainable and healthy building practice.
Strategy Groups is a formulation of individuals and groups with the experience and know-how to implement sustainable solutions into any project. With experience as architects, engineers, developers, and contractors from projects around the world, they have a well-rounded and unique view of the industry.
Sustainability Roundtable Inc. (SR Inc.) is a shared-cost, member-directed research and conferencing company. SR Inc. brings research, conferencing, and social networking to the sustainable real estate market. SR Inc. focuses on delivering actionable best practices for more sustainable commercial real estate portfolios to landlords and corporate tenants.
The Sustainable Energy & Environmental Network (SEEnet) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the environmental stewardship and sustainable development of energy resources and technologies, through educational activities and events, networking, tools, and information.
Each group has representation from the following buildings-related industries and associations:
- Design professions and national associations of architects and engineers
- Development, construction, financial, and real estate industries
- Building owners and operators from the public and private sectors
- Academic and research organizations
- Building code agencies and organizations, including model energy code-setting organizations
- Independent high-performance green building associations and councils
- Experts in indoor air quality and environmental factors, intelligent buildings and integrated building information systems, and the public transportation industry
- Utility energy efficiency programs
- Manufacturers and providers of equipment and techniques used in high-performance green buildings
- Nongovernmental energy efficiency organizations.
Partnership Consortia groups will provide information to DOE about industry progress toward the goals of the Commercial Building Initiative for a report to Congress.
