About the Hospital Energy Alliance
The Hospital Energy Alliance (HEA) brings together hospitals and national associations to promote evidence-based information on energy-efficiency strategies and to serve as a collective voice on the demand for highly efficient products and services.
Thanks to decades of R&D in both the public and private sectors, our nation has a wealth of promising energy-efficiency and renewable energy options. HEA is part of intensive DOE efforts to accelerate the movement of these technologies into the marketplace, to ensure that government and industry solutions fit the hospital sector's unique needs and drivers.
A 2007 American Hospital Association survey reported that hospitals planned to allocate 49 percent of their 2008 capital budgets for new construction or facility modernization. The current capital crisis has forced many hospitals to postpone or cancel construction or renovation plans. But the silver lining is that hospital leaders now have the opportunity to reevaluate facilities plans and ensure they are taking full advantage of energy-efficiency and renewable energy strategies.
HEA participants will gain access to the most current information and tools supporting efficient and renewable energy technologies and join leading hospitals throughout the nation in achieving high-performance, energy-efficient hospitals.
