David Garman Sworn in as Under Secretary of Energy

David K. Garman was sworn in on June 23rd as Under Secretary of Energy for Energy, Science and Environment. Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman swore in Garman at a small ceremony held at the DOE headquarters. Garman, who has served as Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) since 2001, was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 15th.
"As Under Secretary, David will continue his proven leadership at the department as we work to provide new energy choices for America's future and maintain an affordable and reliable energy supply," Secretary Bodman said. "David will continue to promote energy efficiency and lend his outstanding management abilities to the department."
In his new position, Garman will be responsible for the nearly $14 billion of work DOE undertakes each year in energy research and development, demonstration, and deployment; environmental cleanup; legacy management; radioactive waste management; and other activities.
