Building Technologies Program

Organization

On this page you'll find information on how the Building Technologies Program is organized.

The Building Technologies Program is structured in a way to best achieve its vision, mission, and goals by being organized into three key areas: Research and Development, Equipment Standards and Analysis, and Technology Validation and Market Introduction.

Research and Development

The Building Technologies Program's Research and Development group works to improve the energy efficiency of our nation's buildings through innovative new technologies and better building practices. The program conducts research and development on energy-efficient building components, materials, and equipment, and determines how those technologies can be integrated with innovative building methods to optimize building performance and savings.

Equipment Standards and Analysis

The Building Technologies Program's Equipment Standards and Analysis group works with state and local regulatory groups and other interested parties to improve building energy codes, appliance and equipment standards, and guidelines for efficient energy use. These efforts lay the groundwork for reduced energy use and lower operating costs.

Technology Validation and Market Introduction

The Building Technologies Program's Technology Validation and Market Introduction (TVMI) group accelerates the introduction and widespread use of efficient building technologies, as well as deployment of R&D programs. The group's deployment activities are focused in these primary areas: ENERGY STAR® market recognition programs, EnergySmart Schools, and training. The group also provides valuable feedback for future R&D.
