DOE SSL Program
The DOE SSL program supports research and development of promising SSL technologies through annual competitive solicitations in three areas:
-
Core Technology Research projects focus on applied research for technology development, with particular emphasis on meeting efficiency, performance, and cost targets. DOE has issued the Round 6 core technology research solicitation.
-
Product Development projects focus on using the knowledge gained from basic or applied research to develop or improve commercially viable materials, devices, or systems. DOE has issued the Round 6 product development solicitation.
-
Manufacturing Support projects accelerate SSL technology adoption through manufacturing improvements that reduce costs and enhance quality. DOE has issued the first manufacturing solicitation.
R&D partners and projects are selected based on factors such as energy savings potential, likelihood of success, and alignment with the DOE SSL R&D Multi-Year Plan (PDF 3.3 MB) or the draft SSL Manufacturing Roadmap (PDF 812 KB). Download Adobe Reader.
