Workshop: Solid-State Lighting in Higher Education Facilities
May 25-27th
Portland, Oregon
The Department of Energy is hosting a workshop to facilitate a conversation between solid-state lighting (SSL) luminaire manufacturers and end-users, to improve the quality, functionality, and sustainability of SSL products. The workshop will focus on the complex needs of colleges and universities, which use almost every type of lamp and luminaire within a range of applications and environments: from classrooms and offices to theaters, labs, libraries, walkways, and parking garages.
The workshop will bring together a wide range of perspectives – from designers and engineers, higher education end-users, and manufacturers – to share experiences and brainstorm solutions on how to improve SSL products and integrate them into the higher education environment.
- Hear reality-based feedback from people who specify, pay for, install, use, maintain, and dispose of SSL systems
- Learn about the barriers to adoption of SSL products, where SSL products work best, and how to avoid the pitfalls
