Transformations in Lighting:

2010 DOE Solid-State Lighting R&D Workshop

Raleigh Convention Center, Raleigh, NC
February 2-4, 2010

Join DOE for the seventh annual SSL R&D workshop. This gathering of the who's who in lighting research is more than a premier forum for networking. It informs the research agendas in government, academia, and industry—propelling SSL technology toward the highest possible levels of quality and energy-efficient performance.

Plenary sessions will share insights on critical issues related to efficacy, lifetime, and reliability. LED track sessions will explore new ideas for tough technical challenges, looking beyond present LED architectures, exploring alternate substrates, and examining high-risk, high-reward strategies. OLED track sessions will look at what limits OLED efficacy, and critical tradeoffs between lifetime, cost, and brightness.

Additional highlights include:

  • Recognition for top R&D performers in 2009
  • Poster session featuring more than 40 DOE-funded projects
  • Lessons learned from real-world applications
  • Perspective from design competition winners—getting it right
  • Networking with our nation's leading scientists and lighting experts
