Highly-Insulating (R-5*) Windows and Low-e Storm Windows Volume Purchase Program

Subscribe to Windows Volume Purchase Event News and Updates

The U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Program (BTP) is coordinating a volume purchase of R-5 windows, and low-e storm windows, to expand the market of these high efficiency products.

Price is the principal barrier to more widespread market commercialization. The aim of this volume purchase initiative is to work with industry and potential buyers to make highly insulated windows more affordable.

Windows Volume Purchase Midwest Regional Workshop

Please join the Windows Volume Purchase Team and our partners at the Chicago Center for Green Technology, September 22-23, 2010 for the first Windows Volume Purchase Regional Workshop.

Volume Purchase Products Web Site Update

The volume purchase program windows products can be purchased at www.WindowsVolumePurchase.org. There are currently over 40 qualified vendors of high performance windows products on the web site including three vendors offering low-e storm windows. Windows products are being added weekly. We have recently included a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section and a comprehensive listing of utilities – by state – offering incentives for the purchase of high performance windows.

* The Volume Purchase Program requires U-factor in accordance with National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). DOE uses R-value to highlight the performance differences to a non-technical audience.
