Biomass Conversion Technologies Platform Peer Reviews, February 14-18, 2011
February 9, 2011
The U.S Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Biomass Program is hosting its biennial Peer Review of the Biochemical and Thermochemical Conversion Technology Research Platforms. The Biochemical Platform Review will take place from February 14–16, and the Thermochemical Platform Review from February 16–18. Both will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Denver, Colorado.
These Peer Review meetings are open to the public to provide interested stakeholders with the opportunity to learn more about federally funded, state-of-the-art research, development, and deployment activities focused on biomass conversion technologies. Additionally, the Peer Review process affords the Biomass Program an opportunity to transparently obtain meaningful feedback regarding taxpayer-funded Program activities. The information will be useful as the Program considers future funding and portfolio balance decisions. For more information on the Peer Review process and individual technologies, please follow the Peer Review website links below:
During the meetings, project principal investigators (PIs) will discuss their projects’ status, budgets, goals, accomplishments, and challenges relevant to the Biomass Program, and they will take questions from expert review panelists. External stakeholders will be able to view the project slides, hear project presentations, and participate in Q&A sessions, should time allow. The results of each Peer Review evaluation will be made publically available and will shape the discussions of the overall Biomass Program Peer Review meeting, which will be held June 27–28, 2011. To learn more about the Biomass Program, visit the Program’s website. Results from the Program’s last two biennial reviews are available on the Plans, Implementations, and Results page.
