Natural Gas Transit and School Bus Users Group

The Natural Gas Transit and School Bus Users Group (TUG) provides information and technical assistance to transit agencies and school bus fleets operating or considering natural gas buses.

Activities

Managed by the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation for the U.S. Department of Energy, TUG facilitates webcasts, produces a biannual newsletter, and sends notices of interest to transit and school bus fleets. TUG helps stakeholders by:

• Sharing lessons learned and problem-solving techniques that address common challenges faced by natural gas bus fleets
• Providing a technical forum and network for natural gas bus fleet maintenance staff
• Communicating safety issues and codes and standards updates related to natural gas buses
• Serving as a liaison between stakeholders and natural gas vehicle/equipment manufacturers

Meetings

TUG meeting participation is generally limited to stakeholders, but vendors are occasionally invited to talk about their natural gas efforts. Find information from past meetings.

Stakeholders

TUG stakeholders must be affiliated with transit agencies, school bus fleets, or government agencies. Participation is free. To receive updates about meetings and activities contact TUG.

TUG stakeholders can also help Clean Cities Technical Assistance (Tiger Teams) solve problems, including:

• Vehicle performance and drivability
• Safety
• Maintenance
• Driver acceptance
• Fueling station design and operation
• Alternative fuel provider interaction and availability
