Mike Scarpino is the point of contact for Clean Cities' coalitions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. His responsibilities include facilitating the efforts of the Clean Cities coalitions to increase the use of alternative fuels and vehicles through the development of public-private partnerships. Along with traditional project management duties, Scarpino facilitates technology deployment strategies, evaluates proper alternative fuel technologies, determines resource availability, provides technical assistance, contributes areas of expertise, and supports transportation market transformation activities.

Scarpino has been supporting Clean Cities since May 1997, working for the DOE's Northeast Regional Office in Boston until June 2006 and now with the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Pittsburgh. He also serves as the team lead for the Clean Cities regional managers at NETL. Prior to serving the regional office, Scarpino worked for 12 years as a nuclear engineer for the Department of the Navy's Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire and the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
