Natural Gas Vehicle Technology Forum 2011 Meeting

Natural Gas Vehicle Technology Form (NGVTF) logo

The Natural Gas Vehicle Technology Forum (NGVTF) held a meeting for stakeholders on Oct. 25–26, 2011, at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, to support the development and deployment of commercially competitive natural gas engines, vehicles, and infrastructure.

Purpose

This meeting was a technology exchange for NGVTF members from the California Energy Commission (CEC), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and natural gas vehicle (NGV) stakeholders and industry R&D partners to communicate about:

  • NGV technology development and deployment progress
    • Presenting and reviewing existing NGV technology projects and new standards developments
    • Discussing the impact of energy economics and market opportunities on technology development
  • Impacts of state government legislation and international NGV markets on technology development and availability
    • DOE/NREL's programs and priorities for developing NGV technologies
    • CEC's Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program and priorities for developing NGV technologies
    • California's Assembly Bill (AB) 118 and its potential impact on NGV deployment and technology needs
    • South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) NGV technology deployment and development program
    • International NGV markets and vehicle availability from original equipment manufacturers

The intended output for this meeting was to seek feedback from industry peers and key stakeholders to develop a list of technology gaps, propose specific projects, and propose priorities related to NGV R&D needs and demonstration and deployment programs.
