Right Navigation
The vertical space on the right side of the page provides access to content that changes periodically, such as news, events, and features. The information can be office- or program-wide, or specific to a particular subsite.
How the Right Navigation Works
The following list of headers are approved to be used in the right navigation:
Rules for Developing Right Navigation
-
Right navigation is optional. You can use one or more headings as appropriate for your content, or you do not have to use any right navigation at all.
-
The categories must be used in the order listed above.
-
Your content in the right navigation can be applied to a single page, a section of the site, or it can be site-wide.
-
There are specific content and visual treatments for the right navigation. Contact the Web Template Coordinator for details.
-
Charts and graphs can be used in the right navigation (photos and illustrations are placed in the main content area).
-
If you want an additional label for the right navigation, contact the EERE Information Architect with your request.
-
If you choose to display news and events, you can either have the EERE news and events database automatically populate your right navigation with the latest news and events headlines, or you can populate the right navigation with your own headlines. Contact the Web Template Coordinator for more information on the EERE News database.
-
If you display news in the right navigation, the "Subscribe to EERE News Updates" button will automatically be added to your site.
