Roles
DOE Project Lead
The DOE staff member in charge of a program publication, Web site, subsite, or office site. He/she communicates with the TAO Program Liaison and the Project Team.
EERE Information Architect
The lead Information Architect for all EERE Web sites reviews and approves all EERE Web site architectures (program, subsite, and office).
EERE Publications Manager
The DOE manager in charge of reviewing and tracking all EERE print documents.
EERE Exhibits Coordinator
The DOE lead in charge of reviewing and tracking all EERE exhibits.
EERE Search Specialist
The EERE Search Specialist consults on how to optimize your site for search engine rankings.
EERE Web Manager
The DOE manager in charge of the EERE Web site including the template, domains, and standards.
Project Team
The team (could be a lab or contractor) assigned to develop a publication or Web site. Either the DOE Lead or the Project Team communicates with the Web Template Coordinator.
Web Template Coordinator
The coordinator facilitates the approval process between the project teams, the EERE Information Architect, the EERE Web Manager, and the QA review.
Web Elements
Left Navigation
A vertical bar of menu choices on the left side of the page that are used to navigate within a section of a program site (sections are accessed from the top navigation). Left navigation is also used to navigate within a program subsite. Office sites, which do not use top navigation, use left navigation as their site-wide navigation.
Section
Area of content that is navigated by a vertical bar of menu choices on the left side of the page. Each section is linked directly from the top navigation in the blue bar. Subsites are linked from the section navigation (not from the top navigation).
Subsite
A content or program area on program site that has its own set of unique, left navigation. Subsites must reside within one of the main program sections. However, when the user selects the subsite from the main section navigation, the section's left navigation is replaced with the subsite's left navigation.
Top (Site-Wide) Navigation
A series of menu choices located in a blue, horizontal bar directly below the program name in the header. The top navigation is used to access the major content sections of each EERE program Web site. This "site-wide" navigation will appear on every page of the program site. Top navigation is not used for office sites.
Print Elements
Blue-Line Illustration
An individual program-specific illustration that matches the look and style established in the montage.
Boilerplate Text
Standardized text that must be used exactly as provided, such as the EERE Corporate Messages.
Main Element
A central or focal element in a communication product, such as a headline.
Signature Element
A lesser element in a communication product, such as the publication date or tracking number.
