EERE Communication Standards & Guidelines

Laboratory or Contractor Attribution

Often, a contractor or a national laboratory will help produce a publication for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). In some cases, they may include their own attribution statement on these documents.

A national laboratory or an EERE contractor may include an attribution statement if the document references their work. However, they may not include attributions on publications that do not reference their work.

There may be exceptions to this, such as where EERE and the laboratory or contractor believe it would be beneficial to add an attribution statement for communications or educational reasons.

If you believe your publication should be an exception, please contact Scott Minos. All exceptions must be approved.

Below is an example of an approved laboratory or contractor attribution statement:

Prepared by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), both national laboratories of the U.S. Department of Energy. NREL is operated by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC.

Produced for the U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
