Multimedia QA Checklist

The following checklist will help you ensure your multimedia applications have met all EERE standards before your site goes live. For more information, see the EERE standards for multimedia applications.

Audio Files

  The files are in MP3 or .FLV format.
  The files are located in the /media/ directory.
  Any ancillary files are located in /media/includes/.
  A link to download the audio file is included.
  The link to download the file follows the native file format linking requirements.
508 The content includes a link to download Windows Media Player and iTunes.
508 All audio files include a text version.

Flash Animations

  The animation is located in the /media/ directory.
  Any ancillary files are located in /media/includes/.
  All links within the application work properly.
508 The screen does not flicker with a frequency of greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz.
508 The animation has a text version.
508 The animation has a hidden text alternative for users who cannot see Flash.

Podcasts

  All of the individual files follow the video or audio standards.
  All of the podcast files are archived.

Videos

  The video is in .FLV format, unless otherwise approved.
508 The video is captioned. If the video cannot be captioned, a text version is acceptable.
  The video is in the EERE video skin, unless otherwise approved.
  The video is embedded directly on a Web page.
  The video is located in the site's /media/ folder.
  Any ancillary files are located in /media/includes/.
