Low-Cost Carbon Fiber Available to U.S. Manufacturers

July 25, 2013

The Carbon Fiber Technology Facility (CFTF) operated by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and supported by the DOE's Advanced Manufacturing Office is accepting proposals from companies that would like market development quantities of low-cost carbon fiber manufactured at CFTF's pilot scale plant. The material provided can be used to develop new products for industrial uses. Projects with near-term commercial applications will have the highest likelihood of being selected. New, innovative manufacturing processes for low-cost precursor development and conversion technologies hold the key to reducing carbon fiber cost for energy applications.
