Interagency Committee for Alternative Fuels (INTERFUEL)

The INTERFUEL committee is an "ad hoc" group of about 100 Federal employees and direct support contractors involved in alternative fuels, alternative fuel and low-emission vehicles, and mandated fuel use reductions. The group was organized in November 1991 by Federal employees working to implement the provisions of the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) of 1990 and planning for the enactment of the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 1992. Today, INTERFUEL members are responsible for ensuring that Federal fleets are in compliance with CAAA or EPAct regulations. In addition, they are involved with issues affecting Federal fleet policy, funding, and vehicle operations. INTERFUEL Committee meetings occur about once a month.
