Federal Utility Partnership Working Group
The Federal Utility Partnership Working Group (FUPWG), initiated in 1994, establishes partnerships and facilitates communications among Federal agencies, utilities, and energy service companies. Together FUPWG partners develop strategies to help implement cost-effective energy efficiency and water conservation projects. Our common interest is to reduce the cost of government through utility incentive programs at Federal sites.
Federal Utility Partnership Working Group Background
The objectives of the Federal Utility Partnership Working Group are the following:
- Enhance existing or foster new partnerships between Federal agencies and their servicing utilities to identify, develop, and implement all cost-effective energy efficiency, water conservation, and renewable projects at Federal sites;
- Identify how utilities can work with Federal agencies and specific sites so the mandated energy savings goals set forth in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and Executive Order 13123 can be achieved;
- Stimulate and expand the communication infrastructure between Federal agencies, specific sites, and utilities regarding all aspects of energy management at Federal sites; and
- Prepare agencies for upcoming changes in the electric utility industry and provide information regarding recent technological developments in the areas of energy efficiency and water and waste water conservation.
