FEMP Prioritizes Product Procurement Specification Development

FEMP prioritized product procurement specification development, establishing the following three-tier priority structure:  

• Tier 1: FEMP designated
• Tier 2: High priority ENERGY STAR
• Tier 3: Product requests by Federal agencies  

Based on the identified tiers, FEMP will review the need to develop, revise, or remove purchasing specifications and/or guidance for these products on a two year cycle.  

From that review, FEMP developed a draft list of products that will be addressed in Fiscal Year 2011, which includes:  

• Fluorescent ballasts
• Fluorescent luminaires
• Industrial luminaires
• Water-cooled ice machines
• Commercial boilers
• Electric motors
• Pre-rinse spray valves
• Electric storage water heaters
• Fluorescent lamps
• Downlight luminaires
• Low standby power products
