Draft Guidance: Implementation and Follow-up of Identified Energy and Water Efficiency Measures in Covered Facilities

The
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP)
announced availability of draft guidance for the implementation and follow-up
of identified energy and water efficiency measures in covered facilities as
required by Section 432 of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of
2007. The draft guidance is available at:

Draft Guidance for the Implementation
and Follow-up of Identified Energy and Water Efficiency Measures in Covered
Facilities provides
guidance to Federal agencies pertaining to the implementation of energy and
water efficiency measures identified and undertaken per EISA 2007 Section 432
and details how these activities fit into the comprehensive approach to Federal
agency facility energy and water management. EISA 2007 Section 432 requires
Federal agencies to:
- Conduct
comprehensive energy and water evaluations
- Implement
identified efficiency measures
- Follow-up
on implemented efficiency measures
- Deploy and use a Web-based tracking system for covered facilities energy use, evaluations, projects, follow-up, and analysis
- Benchmark
metered buildings that are, or are part of, covered facilities
- Disclose
Federal agency progress in evaluating covered facilities, project
implementation, follow-up status, and benchmarked building performance
implementation status
The draft guidance was announced in the December 15, 2010, issue of the Federal Register (Volume 75, Number 240). FEMP is soliciting public comments until December 29, 2010. Respondents are encouraged to provide comments via e-mail at eisa-432-guidance@ee.doe.gov.
