Diagnostic Tools for Chillers

Thermography

Thermography refers to the use of an infrared thermometer or camera which gives an accurate, non-contact assessment of temperature. Applications for chillers include insulation assessments on chilled water piping as well as motor and bearing temperature assessments on compressors and pumping systems.

Ultrasonic analyzer

Most rotating equipment and many fluid systems emit sound patterns in the ultrasonic frequency spectrum. Changes in these ultrasonic wave emissions are indicative of changes in equipment condition. Applications for chillers include compressor and chilled water pumping systems (bearing wear, etc.). Analyzers can also be used to identify refrigerant leaks.
