Industrial Facilities
FEMP's Industrial Facilities Initiative (IFI) helps Federal agencies improve facility energy efficiency. As defined by the program, a facility or process is deemed "industrial" if it houses high-intensity processes or mission-critical applications that are not the traditional creature comforts of the building (e.g., heating, cooling, lighting, domestic hot water, etc.).
In addition to improving energy efficiency, IFI helps Federal industrial facilities meet regulatory requirements. This includes Executive Order 13423, which requires Federal facilities, laboratories, and industrial buildings to reduce energy consumption 30% by 2015 compared to a 2003 baseline.
IFI partners with the Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) to offer expert advice, support, and resources to Federal industrial facility managers. These resources include:

Federal versus Private Industry Facilities
