Energy-Efficiency Funds and Demand Response Programs, Nevada
Updated July 2007
What public-purpose-funded energy efficiency programs are available in my state?
Nevada does not have public-purpose-funded energy efficiency programs.
What utility energy efficiency programs are available to me?
Nevada's utilities provide energy efficiency funding as part of their Integrated Resource Planning process.
Nevada Power Co. and Sierra Pacific jointly offer the Nevada Sure Bet Program. Eligible projects must involve a capital improvement that will result in energy savings due to efficiency improvements, or a permanent shift of electricity load away from peak hours. Prescriptive incentives are offered on a per unit basis for common energy saving technologies in lighting, cooling, motors and refrigeration. Custom incentives, determined on the basis of the estimated amount of electrical energy and peak demand savings, are also available for certain measures. Funding for 2007 has been fully subscribed for customers in Sierra Pacific's Nevada service territory, and remaining funds at Nevada Power are only available to small businesses. However, customers can still submit applications and be placed on a waiting list until new funds are available.
What load management/demand response options are available to me?
No load management/demand response options are currently available to federal customers.
What distributed energy resource options are available to me?
The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE) provides information on programs that offer incentives for renewable distributed generation. The following program may be of interest to federal customers:
The SolarGenerations program provides rebates for photovoltaic installations. The incentives for public buildings is $5 per watt rated AC output, with a maximum incentive of $150,000.
Are there energy efficiency programs sponsored by the state government?
The Nevada State Energy Office, in the Department of Business and Industry, provides information on energy efficiency resources in the state.
What additional opportunities are available to me?
Federal customers whose utilities have area-wide contracts with GSA and, by extension, all other federal agencies (e.g. Idaho Power), may take advantage of additional energy efficiency opportunities. Federal facilities should contact their account executive to determine the level of participation by their local utility.
