Training

Training of facility managers plays a vital role in our government's goal of saving energy and dollars through energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation. FEMP provides training and guidance to help federal energy managers become more proficient in energy management and learn about alternative forms of financing energy-saving projects.

Meeting Federal Renewable Energy Goals

In 2004, FEMP sponsored two one-day regional workshops for federal energy managers to learn about renewable energy projects and renewable power purchases. The workshops provided background on federal renewable goals (e.g., 2.5% of electricity from renewables by 2005), what resources qualified for the 2.5% target, and updates on each agency's progress. There are two additional workshops planned for 2005.

April 26, 2005
Chicago, Illinois

The workshop is focused on three basic areas; an overview of requirements and progress to date, options and opportunities for renewable power purchases and on-site projects in DOE's Midwest Region and a "provider panel" with information on resources energy managers can use to pursue a renewable power purchase. There will be a procurement panel with GSA and DESC representatives, as well as federal case studies from the Air Force and the EPA. Visit the agenda for the workshop presentations.

May 24, 2005
Boston, MA

The workshop is focused on three basic areas; an overview of requirements and progress to date, options and opportunities for renewable power purchases and on-site projects in DOE's Northeast Region and a "provider panel" with information on resources energy managers can use to pursue a renewable power purchase. Visit the agenda for the workshop presentations.

June 15, 2004
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Presenters described opportunities and implementation options for purchasing renewable power and implementing on-site renewable energy projects in DOE's Mid-Atlantic Region. Visit the agenda for the workshop presentations.

Meeting Federal Renewable Energy Goals

At this session, we presented the best options for pursuing renewable energy projects and renewable power purchases to help agencies meet the federal renewable energy goal: 2.5% of electricity from renewables by 2005. Presenters described opportunities and implementation options for renewable energy projects and renewable power purchases. There was also a "provider panel" with information on resources to pursue agency goals. Visit the workshop agenda to view presentations from this event.
