Working Group
Led by the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), the Renewable Energy Working Group is made up of more than 100 representatives of Federal agencies, U.S. Department of Energy programs, and the renewable energy industry. The group provides a forum for Federal agencies and the renewable industry to exchange information on existing and planned projects, lessons learned, sources of project funds, and technologies available in today's marketplace.
The final guidance specifying conditions for agencies to meet the EPACT 2005 and EO13423 requirements for renewable energy use is now available and can be downloaded below:

The minutes of the December 15, 2004, meeting of the Renewable Energy Working Group include updates on renewable energy technologies and goals. There were two presentations from the meeting, one from Navigant Consulting, Inc. (PDF 713 KB, 56 pp), that provides a perspective on renewable energy technology and marketing development and its possible effect on the federal sector. The second was a presentation from McNeil Technologies Inc. (PDF 277 KB, 14 pp), which compared renewable energy goals from the 2004 House Energy Bill to various projections, such as the Energy Information Agency and National Laboratories, and included the effect of counting hydropower in the goals. The minutes of the April 8, 2003, meeting of the Renewable Energy Working Group include an update on FEMP and energy-related legislation. Also included are summaries of presentations on opportunities for merging homeland security, pollution prevention, and distributed power markets into the Federal procurement market, the PV Navy project at Coronado, North Island, San Diego, the Marine Corps project at Twenty Nine Palms, California, Dyess Air Force Base Green Power Project, a Green Power Update, the Million Solar Roofs Initiative, and new E.O. 13123 guidance and goals.
The minutes of the September 10, 2002, meeting of the Renewable Energy Working Group include an update on what's happening in Congress. Also included are summaries of presentations on the Federal renewable energy goal, biomass and alternate methane fuels (BAMF), the impact of low-impact hydro in meeting renewable energy goals, challenges of biomass, purchasing opportunities, renewable energy purchasing at the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC), an assessment of renewable energy potential on Western U.S. Lands from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Wind Powering America (WPA).
The minutes of the April 2, 2002, meeting of the Renewable Energy Working Group include an update on FEMP and energy-related legislation. Also included are summaries of presentations on the Federal renewable energy goal, technical assistance for projects, Million Solar Roofs Initiative, PV array at Suitland Federal Center, use of renewable energy and distributed technologies to improve security, and a renewable energy assessment from the Department of Defense.
