2010 Call for Nominations
FEMP is planning a few changes to the 2010 Awards criteria and guidelines, currently under development. The 2010 Awards will continue to honor exemplary projects that promote Federal energy management goals of Executive Order 13514, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. To encourage efforts that contribute to a sustainable, whole-building or campus approach, the Awards will provide an incentive for agencies to nominate projects that address multiple elements of energy management under one submission.
Please expect the following changes from past guidance:
-
Basic award categories for projects (Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Water Conservation, Fleet Management) will remain unchanged. Nominations can be submitted under one or more of these categories. Nominations submitted for more than one category will be evaluated and weighted appropriately. Projects that would have been submitted under the former Sustainable Design category should now be submitted under the multiple category nomination.
-
A new Effective Program Implementation and Management category and corresponding criteria will address comprehensive, cross-cutting management approaches to successful implementation of energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, and fleet management programs across an organization, region, or campus to achieve goals of Executive Order 13514.
-
Evaluation criteria for all categories have changed. Several criteria are based on Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings.
-
All nominations will be asked to estimate annual avoided carbon dioxide equivalent emissions resulting directly from the nominated project/program.
-
Two special award categories for individual successes will be judged on separate criteria. The special award category for Exceptional Service will continue as in past years. One additional special award category will be added for contracting officers (individuals only).
-
Criteria for the 2010 Presidential Awards for Leadership in Federal Energy Management will be contained in a separate document. Please see http://www.femp.energy.gov/services/awards_presidential.html for more information.
FEMP plans to distribute/post the 2010 criteria no later than February 12, 2010. Award nominations will be due by close of business on May 14, 2010 via FEMP's on-line nomination system.
