Presidential Awards for Leadership in Federal Energy Management

The Presidential Awards for Leadership in Federal Energy Management honor Federal employees for their support, leadership, and efforts in promoting and improving Federal energy management. The awards program is required by Executive Order 13423.

Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the following areas:

Conservation and efficient use of energy and water
New and emerging energy technologies
Innovative strategies, best practices, and applications
Renewable energy sources
Alternative financing
Energy-efficient mobility by the federal government

Call for Nominations

Winners of 2008 Presidential Awards for Leadership in Federal Energy Management will be chosen from nominations submitted to the Federal Energy Management Program, due on May 23, 2008.

For guidance on nominations, please consult the 2008 criteria and guidelines (MS Word 130 KB) and cover sheet (MS Word 43 KB), which must be completed and attached to each nomination. Please note, FEMP requires that all agencies submit nominations through their federal agency energy coordinator. Your agency contact information is also required as part of the nomination cover sheet criteria.

Final determination of the 2008 Presidential Award winners is made by the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive. Winners will be notified and listed on this site in the coming months.

Event Information

The Presidential Awards ceremony and reception will be held on October 23, 2008 at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, DC. An evening reception with winners of the Presidential, Federal Energy and Water Management Awards, and the DOE Awards will be held on October 21, 2008 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Attendance to these events is by invitation only.
