Andover Service Center, Internal Revenue Service (Andover, MA)

Department of the Treasury

The Andover Internal Revenue Service Center took advantage of cost free energy studies and rebates to implement many improvement projects. These include installation of a 225 ton chiller with a variable frequency drive, variable frequency drives on cooling tower fans, fully automated air handler units, a 250 ton high efficiency cooling tower, and high efficiency lighting and occupancy sensors. The building also includes low-flow urinals, faucets, and fixtures to conserve water. The projects helped the IRS reduce electricity consumption by 8.6 percent between FY 2003 and FY 2005.
