The CDC Clifton Road Campus expansion project includes three new sustainable buildings, a central utility plant, and a self-sustaining green space. Building construction included recycled and low-emitting materials, and occupant comfort is maximized through carbon dioxide, humidity and temperature controls and pollutant monitoring. Low-maintenance vegetation, well water for lawn irrigation, and low-flow water fixtures and sensors reduce water consumption by 30 percent. Energy conservation features such as an efficient, automated HVAC system; optimized building orientation; high performance glazing and shading techniques; an Energy StarĀ® roof; and high efficiency lighting combined with daylighting, occupancy sensors, and lighting controls achieve energy savings of 20 percent above standard energy codes.
