Bureau of Engraving and Printing (Washington, DC)Department of the TreasuryIn FY 2004, the U. S. Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing facility in Washington, D.C. implemented an energy reduction strategy to monitor and control 86 air handling units via Web-based Intranet. Additional energy conservation measures also changed operating procedures to allow for utility and equipment shutdowns during unoccupied periods. These measures reduced FY 2006 energy consumption by 20.4 percent compared to FY 2003, far exceeding both the EPACT 2005 and Executive Order 13423 annual reduction goals of 2 percent and 3 percent respectively. The facility also saved $867,000 in utility costs compared to FY 2005. |
