The Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center incorporates sustainable concepts from the ground up, including siting orientation, natural habitat preservation, native plant landscaping, and dark-sky lighting. The laboratory and office space incorporate recycled-content building materials, low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient lighting, daylighting with clerestories and angled soffits to reflect light, energy-saving HVAC systems, direct digital controls, and variable-air-volume systems.
