The National Weather Service's Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Key West, FL, is one of 122 WFO's that monitor and predict weather patterns to help protect the nation. The Key West WFO is the second to obtain a LEED Silver rating. The site incorporates natural stormwater runoff reduction, native plant restoration, landscaping water cisterns, and graywater use for restrooms.The building incorporated recycled construction materials, cedar siding from a renewable growth forest, energy-saving HVAC systems, low-VOC furnishings and fixtures, efficient lighting, and natural daylighting to achieve its excellent sustainable design rating.
