Parklawn Building - Program Support Center (Rockville, MD)

Department of Health and Human Services

The HHS Parklawn Building installed high efficiency chillers, upgraded boiler components, applied solar film to 8,740 windows, and replaced 55,679 T-12 lamps with more efficient T-8 lamps. HHS upgraded approximately 850 toilets to new low-flow models, retrofitted restroom sinks in public areas with aerators, and replaced a cooling tower for a savings of 8.5 million gallons of water annually. Lighting motion detectors, vendor misers, and numerous low-cost energy management actions were also taken to earn an Energy Star rating and make the building one of the top 25 percent in the nation for energy efficiency.
