Technology Deployment Goals and Initiatives

FEMP set goals and initiatives for its new and underutilized technology program to ensure continued technology development and market transformation.

Goals

FEMP new and emerging technology program goals include:

  • Facilitating Federal agency progress toward the goals and requirements of Federal laws and regulations, including Executive Order (E.O.) 13514, E.O. 13423, Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005, EPAct 1992, and others.

  • Accelerating advanced and energy-efficient technology adoption within the Federal Government to strengthen the nation's energy security and environmental stewardship.

In addition, FEMP partners with Federal agencies to support the GovEnergy, Labs21, and FedFleet conferences, which offer companies an opportunity to exhibit energy-saving products and services before a large audience.

Initiatives

FEMP set the following strategic initiatives to facilitate technology research, development, commercialization, and deployment:

  • Demonstrate, measure, and validate new and emerging technologies applicable to Federal energy consumption.

  • Compile and disseminate technical information on new and emerging technologies from within the Federal Government and from outside organizations.

  • Raise awareness, prepare technical information, and develop training on new and emerging technologies, including implementation guidance and best practices.

  • Assist Federal agencies in applying for and receiving alternative financing for installation of new and emerging technologies.

  • Initiate partnership development between the Federal Government and private industry.
