Alaska: Enhanced Efficiency of Wind-Diesel Power Generation in Tribal Villages

This project is reducing the consumption of fossil fuel by 40% in four tribal villages in Alaska by using wind energy to displace diesel fuel and generate power while storing heat.  More

Iowa: West Union Green Transformation Project

The City of West Union, Iowa, installed a closed-circuit geothermal heating and cooling system designed to heat and cool 330,000 square feet of mixed used space in the downtown area, including 80% of the 60 downtown buildings. The City also set up a system of mini-grants for downtown businesses to help defray the costs of weatherizing their buildings and connecting to the system. More

North Dakota: EERE-Funded Project Recycles Energy, Generates Electricity

This SEP-funded project in Williston, North Dakota, places generators at oil production well sites to transform wellhead flare gas into high-quality, three-phase electricity, which is then sold to the local rural electric cooperatives. The modern, natural gas-fueled generators burn cleanly with “ultra-low” emissions ratings that exceed state and federal emissions standards.  More
