Summary:
The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is seeking applications for cost-shared research and development of technologies to reduce energy consumption, reduce environmental impacts, and enhance economic competitiveness of the domestic glass industry. The research is to address topics derived from research priorities identified by the glass industry in the Glass Industry Technology Roadmap:
- Refining and Conditioning
- Batch/Cullet Preheating
- Glass Composition and Raw Materials
- Forming and Finishing
Potential benefits of the research must be realized in manufacturing processes, not in end-use applications. Proposals for pure glass product development research will not be considered.
