Summary:

Under this announcement, the Department of Energy is soliciting applications for small wind turbine concept studies that demonstrate the potential for improvements in cost, reliability, and performance in grid-connected applications at low wind speed regimes. For purposes of this announcement, low wind speeds are defined as Class 3 (average of 5.35 m/s at an elevation of 10 meters above ground level) and small wind turbines are defined as turbines of 100 kilowatts or less.
